Cabarete is considered the best location in the Caribbean for practicing Windsurf and Kitesurf. It is heaven for water sport lovers.

It has been the place for famous international championships like Kiteboarding World Cup, Master of the Ocean, Windsurf World Cup and Cabarete Race Week. It has received famous international competitors, such as Aaron Hadlow, Ruben Lenten and Gisela Pulido, as well as great Dominican competitors like Luciano González and Tony García.

Outstanding winds, warm waters, large rolling waves, widespread beaches and a mild temperature through out the whole year are some characteristics that make Cabarete a paradise for water sport lovers. But no need to worry, you can find numerous schools if you don’t know and want to learn any of these sports; you will be able to find qualified staff to train you or rent you equipment.

From December to April you will find light winds and big waves, but from June to September the winds intensify and the waves decrease. Depending on the season, professionals use different types of gear.

Kite Beach and Cabarate Bay are the two main beaches for practicing these sports. Kite Beach is visited more, but at the same time is more challenging. The winds blow strong and consistently toward the east, which makes of this zone a perfect place to practice diverse techniques proper of participants and professionals of this discipline.
