Historic Center of Puerto Plata
It is considered one of the most attractive places for tourists in Puerto Plata. It is one of the most cherished symbols of "La Novia del Atlántico".
It is surrounded by beautiful and unique Victorian houses, unique in the country and of high architectural value for the era they represent, today stands around "Plaza Independencia" and the Cathedral of St. Philip the Apostle.
Fort San Felipe
San Felipe de Puerto Plata was discovered on the first voyage of Christopher Columbus, on January 12, 1493. Today is the only existing witness of the sixteenth century in the city. The fortress built of stone, worked as a prison on several occasions and there was our patriarch Juan Pablo Duarte, arrested by order of General Pedro Santana. Nowadays, it is known as one of the most welcoming places in the city for domestic and foreign tourists who admire its natural beauty and historical value.
Luperon-La Isabela
According to the History, it was the first city founded in the New World besides having also sung the first mass and established the first City Hall in the land of America. Is commonly visited by tourists, interested in learning about data on the colonization of America.
